Why do I write about New Year’s resolutions? Do they even matter or are they hollow thoughts with no power whatsoever?
I think New Year’s resolutions may serve a certain purpose, but don’t just say them out loud and swear to other people you are e.g. staying dry in January only to drink your next shot on January 4th.
If you are sincere about changing anything, try two different approaches:
- Changing habits (I recommend “Atomic Habits” by James Clear)
- Setting goals (I recommend “The Answer” by Allan Pease)
Both reads show you in a guided and hands-on way very powerful methods to get where you want, if you really want.
I can’t really give you a summary or highlights from both books. Work them through. It’s worthwhile reading and fun to watch yourself getting better.
It helps cutting back or even stopping to drink.
Until then: Take one step at a time and keep up the faith in yourself.
